TEENS, Inc. Youth Corps
Susan grew up in Buffalo, New York where she studied as a student athlete at Medaille College. She pursued a degree in secondary education for three years, and later chose to graduate with a degree in humanities. With the freedom of designing her own independent studies, she delved into Rudolf Steiner’s anthroposophy, transcendental and music psychology, and creative expressions. Upon receiving her degree, Susan served with Western New York’s Service Collaborative in the Americorps Builds Lives Through Education program. She was a positive action teacher, sharing the power of positive thinking to overcome obstacles. During her term she received Trauma Informed Care and Adverse Childhood Experiences training. In the Fall, she also served as an assistant coach for Medaille College women’s volleyball. Following intuition and heart, Susan found herself in Colorado where she became a crew leader for Mile High Youth Corps in 2018. She worked on trails all along the Southern Front Range and received S212 certification for chainsaw work. With love for the Colorado mountains, and an understanding of the positive impact youth corps can have, Susan is happy to be a part of the TEENS, Inc. team.
