Tom is originally from El Salvador and lived in several countries in Latin America during his youth. He attended Middle and High School in Wisconsin. Tom earned his Bachelors in degree in History and received his Master’s in Education from Regis University. He has been living in Colorado since 2002. Tom believes that for students to be successful in education a strong and nurturing relationship must be forged between educator and students. Tom’s teaching philosophy involves inquiry based education where students learn through question based exploration of subject matter. Tom also believes very strongly that the wilderness can be a very powerful education tool for youth. While not at flagstaff Tom enjoys climbing, skiing, trail running, reading, and adventuring in the mountains with his wife and dog.
