Job Description:
The Human Resources Manager will run the daily functions of the Human Resource department including recruitment, onboarding, compensation, benefits and insurance programs, performance management, employee relations, HR policies and procedures, payroll, workers’ compensation, absence management, and training.
Primary Responsibilities:
Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
Initiates new hire onboarding in including systems, benefits, policies and procedures
Manages employee termination process and off-boarding
Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, performance and talent management, recognition, and culture
Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants and employees, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
Coaches managers regarding performance management issues
Manage and process all payroll tasks including time and attendance, record keeping, payroll taxes and reporting
Develops content for and deliver training programs for staff and leadership
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
Manages relationship with and negotiates benefits with broker
Develops, recommends and implements personnel policies and procedures with input from leadership; ensures staff are familiar
Responsible for and manages workers’ compensation, disability and unemployment claims and FMLA/FAMLI
Maintains a Human Resources Information System including payroll, employee files and required documents
Assists in or leads mediations as issues arise between staff
Requirements and Qualifications
5+ years in a progressive HR generalist or management role preferably in a small organization
HR industry certification preferred but not required
Experience in nonprofit, social enterprise, or small company is preferred
Experience in managing and processing payroll required
Strong experience in compensation and benefit management
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
Proficiency with HRIS administration
Compensation and benefits
Base salary of $60,000 - $75,000 commensurate with experience plus bonus potential
401k with 3% match
